Racha Yai, the jewel of the Andaman, is renowned for its exceptional dive sites that attract divers from all over the world. Good to know: Racha is also spelled Rajah or Raya. In Thai, "Yai" means big and "Noi" means small — Racha Yai is therefore the big island of the archipelago.
Racha Yai's coral gardens are the perfect site for beginner courses and even non-divers who want to enjoy the show with a mask and snorkel. The sheltered bays offer calm conditions and clear turquoise water.
The dives let you explore colourful coral reefs, mysterious rock formations and rich, varied marine life: shimmering tropical fish, majestic rays, moray eels and, with a bit of luck, a blacktip reef shark.
