The island of Phuket, often nicknamed "The Pearl of the South", is for scuba diving enthusiasts the crown jewel of the Andaman Sea — one of the most renowned diving destinations in the world. This paradise island lies just 8° north of the equator, enjoying a tropical climate and unrivalled variety of underwater life.

The warm, clear, nutrient-rich waters attract vast schools of tropical fish, manta rays, and the famous whale sharks that inspire both awe and admiration. The highly diverse underwater spectacles and abundance of aquatic life, combined with good (sometimes excellent) visibility, delight photographers and marine naturalists.

The sites are exceptionally varied and offer a complete range of dive profiles: start with a lazy drift dive through superb coral gardens, try a cavern dive through the many caves and tunnels, explore a shipwreck, or undertake a multilevel dive along a steep granite wall where every nook shelters different creatures.

You can dive all year round in Phuket: the best season is between October and May, between the two monsoons, but diving remains enjoyable throughout the year. A fleet of dive boats criss-crosses the azure waters that were, for thousands of years, the main trade route between India, the Kingdom of Siam and China.
